You will need:

  • 2 x 583g Betty Crocker® Super Moist Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • 1 1/2 cups (375ml) Water
  • 6 (59g) Eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • Tray or cardboard (46 cm x 36cm), covered with aluminium foil
  • 453g Betty Crocker® Vanilla Frosting Tub
  • Green Food Colouring
  • 1 x pkt Milk Chocolate Buttons
  • 1 x pkt Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 1 x pkt Mini M&M's (pick out brown M&M's)
  • 1 x tube white writing gel

Follow these basic steps

  1. Heat oven to 180°C/350°F (160°C fan-forced oven). Grease base and sides of 2 x (20 cm) deep round cake pans and line the bases with non-stick baking paper.
  2. Beat cake mixes, water, eggs and oil in a large bowl with electric mixer on LOW speed for 30 seconds, then on MEDIUM speed for 2 minutes. Pour into pans and gently smooth tops. Bake for 50 – 55 minutes or until skewer in the centre comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes. Remove from pans to cooling racks and cool completely.
  3. For body, cut 2-cm slice from edge of one cake. From the cut edge, cut out small inverted U-shape piece to create legs. Place body on tray. From remaining cake, cut head and tail. Connect head and tail pieces to body.
  4. Spoon frosting into large bowl. Tint frosting with green food colouring. Frost cake all over.
  5. Use milk chocolate chips for spikes along back of dinosaur. Decorate body with Mini M&M’s and Milk Chocolate Buttons. Use white icing gel to create eyes and teeth.
