Party planning 101

Follow these top tips for an awesome party that your friends will love.

Party Planning

Pre-party

Define your party
Take the time early on to think about what kind of party you want. Do you want a theme? Is it a big party or small gathering? Loud or mellow? Cocktail, fancy dress, or casual? Get these decisions out the way early, and the whole process will be much more simple.

Invitations
Even though we all just make an event on Facebook, it’s always nice to receive a hand-written invitation. They are a chance to be creative, set the tone and get your guests excited about the party before they’ve even arrived.

Food
Cake: The most important part of any birthday. Check out these awesome Betty birthday cakes for inspiration.
Snacks: An awesome party tip is to always have bisquick on hand. Not only is it great for cakes, but you can also easily make other party foods like pizza and sausage rolls with it.

Decorations
Making decorations is loads of fun, and you don’t have to spend loads of money to make them look good. All it takes is a few staple items, and a bit of party magic.

Streamers: Be crafty with these – people have made streamers out of crepe paper, balloons, fairy lights and even tassels.
Flowers: Flower arrangements, tied together with some satin ribbon make beautiful decorations. If you’re on a budget, you can also create flower bouquets out of origami paper. They’re cheap, easy to make, and look fantastic.

Entertainment
You’ve organised the party and the guests have arrived. So what next?

Music: Music can make or break a party. Decide what genres would be appropriate for your event – you may even choose to have a live band. Plan ahead, especially if you’re relying on technology: Make sure your speakers work, your iPod is charged, and the playlist is stocked so the tunes keep on coming.

Photobooth: There is always a line for the photobooth at our parties. Jazz it up with some props and you’ve got a winning party entertainer as well as a memento from the event. You can also upload these photos to Facebook for everyone to have a giggle at later.

We hope your parties are a great success, and we would love to hear all about them. Send us through some photos on our Facebook :)
